’Twas almost Christmas when all through the house
Sat my dogs and my cat… minus a spouse.
The tree was decked out with tinsel and glee,
In hopes a few packages would appear near the tree.
My son was all hyper in pajamas bright red,
Bounding and leaping on his soft twin bed.
With me working hard to make ends meet,
All I wanted was a good night’s sleep.
When deep in my soul, thoughts began to chatter.
I wondered, oh my, what’s all this clatter?
A presence appeared—all twinkling and white.
Could it be JESUS…my Savior tonight?
My spirit drew near as I yearned for more.
It was ME He cherished; it was ME He adored!
The moon shimmered brightly on the new fallen snow.
Oh, how He loved this single mother below.
When what to my pounding heart should appear,
But a host of spirits wooing me near.
With a sprinkle of glitter and heavenly bling,
I knew in a moment it was Jesus, my King.
His eyes, how they twinkled as He spoke to my soul,
Where all I could do was surrender control.
More rapid than eagles His greetings they came,
As He whispered affectionately and called me by name,
Now Daughter, now Beloved, I see you so clear.
No need to worry, I am always right here.
Take heart and delight, I’m close by your side,
So throw off the worries—yes, come let’s abide.
For I am your keeper, your husband so dear,
Always forever, you have nothing to fear.
With a bond of love I’d never felt before,
I fell to my knees on the cold dusty floor.
So humbled so grateful He appeared for a reason,
Bringing hope and comfort for this holiday season.
Through tears of joy the revelation was clear,
He simply wanted to bestow good cheer.
I still hear Him say as He rose out of sight,
Merry Christmas, my princess. I love you; sleep tight.
About Pam Kanaly
Aloha! I’m Pam Kanaly, President and co-founder of Arise Ministries. But actually, I think Arise found me wanting to bless single moms years ago. Ministry was never on my mind as a kid. All I wanted to be was a hula dancer. So Mother enrolled me in the tiny tots’ class. Guess God knew I’d have two grandbabies born in Hawaii. I love the great outdoors. You might even find me spending time with my husband grizzly bear watching or camping. In fact, it was on a turkey hunt that God gave me the name Arise Ministries in 2002. I suppose it’s a good thing that I majored in Grammar in college since I love to write words of encouragement to single moms.
