Frazzled

Alone? Overlooked? Deficient? Overwhelmed?

I love to sit on my back patio and watch the wildlife strolling through our trees.  Just the other day I heard and saw something most unusual. A mother deer and her fawn were grazing around the corn feeder—the mom on one side of the dispenser and her “toddler” on the other side. A tree branch snapped in the distance. The sound spooked the little one, and it was FRAZZLED beyond words. I’m telling you, without any hesitation at all that infant rushed to its mommy for “deer” life…(pun intended).

Single mom, when life stresses you out or you feel a sudden snap of danger, where do you run? I want to invite you to join me in the Arise Ministries FREE 4-week video online Bible study entitled FRAZZLED. I’m totally excited to share one of my utmost passions, which is knowing the attributes of God, falling in love with His wonderful names, and relying on what is true about His very nature. In fact our key verse for the study, Proverbs 18:10, sums it up well: The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

Anyone out there feeling exhausted, weary, or drained? Friend, in all my years as a believer nothing has comforted me or enhanced my worship of Christ more than dwelling on the character and names of our mighty God.

Weekly Recap

With that in mind, I want to share a few highlights from each week of FRAZZLED. We’ll take a peek into God’s name Jehovah Raah, meaning the “Lord Is My Shepherd.” Do you ever just want someone to come alongside and tend to your needs? This week we’ll discover that we, like sheep, have a caretaker, too.

And I can’t forget one of my favorites, El Roi, meaning the “God Who Sees.” As a single mom, at times you might feel God has forgotten about you or turned His back the other way. I’ll never forget when I was a single mother how the God Who Sees unexpectedly revealed His presence by my bedside one night.

And we’ll look at El Shaddai, meaning the “All-Sufficient God.” Have you ever said as a mom, “Lord, I can’t do this!” It’s easy to feel like we’re lacking in whatever it takes to be an effective single parent. When those “mommy lies” surface and we feel less thanadequate, the All-Sufficient One, can handle it.

And finally, we’ll top off the series with Jehovah Shalom, the “Lord Is Peace.” Does this sound familiar, “Seems like I’m always unsettled about something?” We’ll study three tips to learn how to rest on the inside while our outside world remains chaotic and pressure filled.

Are you as excited as I am about FRAZZLED? This I know. God longs for us to know Him—not just know about him but to know Him. And here’s the good part. Single moms, you can listen to the entire four-week series in your small group or in the comfort of your own house shoes at home. So grab your cup of coffee and prepare to go from FRAZZLED to REFRESHED.

Ready? Fantastic. Here’s WEEK ONE.

About Pam Kanaly

Aloha! I’m Pam Kanaly, President and co-founder of Arise Ministries. But actually, I think Arise found me wanting to bless single moms years ago. Ministry was never on my mind as a kid. All I wanted to be was a hula dancer. So Mother enrolled me in the tiny tots’ class. Guess God knew I’d have two grandbabies born in Hawaii. I love the great outdoors. You might even find me spending time with my husband grizzly bear watching or camping. In fact, it was on a turkey hunt that God gave me the name Arise Ministries in 2002. I suppose it’s a good thing that I majored in Grammar in college since I love to write words of encouragement to single moms.
