God is Able

Have you ever tried to fix things on our own in this life?  It feels like we are strong enough to handle all life throws at us. However, some things we can’t do in our own strength. When we get to this point and realize we can’t do it alone, then God has our attention. There is a God who is all powerful, loving, and specializes in the impossible. But we must turn to him and rely on him.  This verse gives us great hope:

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6  KJV

When we turn to him, he is able to do more then we even ask or think or imagine.  The word able means having the power, skill, or opportunity to do something.  Therefore, we can’t be afraid to believe him for that big problem.  God is able to do more than what we are even asking him to do according to the power that works in us. We have the power of God working in us to do what seems impossible. I find this verse incredibly empowering:

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.  Ephesians 3:20 KJV

When Sarah was barren and past child-bearing age in Genesis 18, God let her husband know that it wasn’t too hard for him to work in Sarah’s womb.  At an appointed time he would allow her to give birth to a son. Likewise, he can allow us to give birth to something regardless of the obstacle that is in our way.  It doesn’t matter what statistics say about single mothers, we can be successful in life. God is able to do great things in our lives at his appointed time.

And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?

Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Genesis 18: 14-15 KJV

So take heart! Nothing is impossible with God!
