I’m sure we could all agree that reading the Bible is an important practice in the life of a Believer. I’ve been reading my Bible for years. Sometimes I am engaged in a formal study that keeps me on track and directs me in my daily reading. Other times I find myself stumbling around a bit trying to decide what to read. Does that ever happen to you?
A few years ago I was introduced to the YouVersion Bible app. It’s a free Bible app for your phone, tablet or computer. It makes reading God’s Word easy and accessible from any mobile device. I don’t always have my paper Bible handy but I’m rarely without my phone or iPad. With four kids, I spend a lot of time on the go. Having the Bible easily accessible gives me the opportunity to make the most of any free minutes I find during the day.
There are hundreds of reading plans to guide you in your personal study of God’s Word. I’ve found it to be a great tool in studying scripture personally and with my children. If you’re looking for a fresh way to read God’s Word, consider a YouVersion reading plan. Plans range in length from a few days to daily readings for a year. Some of my favorite reading plans include:

Moms, whatever method you choose to practice the discipline of being rooted in scripture, be diligent in guarding your study time. There are hundreds of books to read, thousands of speakers with an encouraging word for your journey and countless people to offer you good advice in this life. But let us always remember there is no substitute for diving into the Bible, and letting the words of our Savior penetrate our hearts. In the private study of the scriptures, with a heart surrendered to hear His voice, that is where our lives are transformed. That is where we are made holy.
