Discover the Beauty Within You

Beauty Points

The beauty within you is released in stages. It requires transformation, or “complete metamorphosis” just like a butterfly!

To become all that you are meant to be, you must embrace the fact that change is an essential part of the process. It might be uncomfortable and sometimes downright painful, but rest assured, it is always necessary. Think of it this way, we all enjoy seeing a beautiful butterfly landing on a leaf or flying above our heads. Most likely, we don’t even consider the fact that the butterfly was once a caterpillar crawling around on a stem or branch of a tree. How many of us even think about the caterpillar being in a cocoon? No, we simply enjoy the beautiful colors and gracefulness of the butterfly that tickles our face with its soft wings, and the gentle breeze of the wind as it passes by.

Now consider this beauty point; rewards follow sacrifice. The reward of beautiful wings is the result of the caterpillar’s determination to make it through its cocoon stage to being able to take wings and fly! In the same way, we must learn how to distinguish between consequences and rewards. You are empowered to make healthy life choices that can lead to awesome, long-term benefits that will bless you and your children. However, in order to get the benefits, you must consistently make choices that lead to those rewards.

So, you may be asking, is there any mercy for me as a single mom dealing with the consequences of some “not-so-wise” decisions? My answer is a resounding YES! There is always mercy available to us when we miss the mark and make bad decisions. The key to releasing your beauty in that stage is to face the circumstances of your life with full assurance that God loves you and His desire is to help you make better decisions. He knows that you are capable of flying to heights that you never dreamed that you could and He will give you strength and wisdom as you draw closer to Him. Ask Him for His help in those times when you feel pressure to do things that lead to negative consequences. Keep it real and never give yourself permission to make excuses for bad decisions. Instead, choose to look ahead at the rewards (beautiful wings) and make the changes necessary in your life to reap a beautiful reward! Till-Next-Time(TNT)

Shelley Pulliam

Howdy! (A girl from Oklahoma has to use this as her greeting) I’m Shelley Pulliam, Executive Director of Arise Single MOms and former teacher of hormone-filled 8th graders. But my real claim to fame rests in my award as second grade spelling bee champ and my recent gun-handling skills as I train to competition shoot. It helps me be on guard when Satan comes knocking. I’m a voracious reader and can frequently be found at the theater enjoying movie marathons where my record stands at six in one day. I’m a single, never married, who loves to pour into children at every opportunity. Let me know if you have any for sale.
